13th Frame Lounge
Our dive adventure this past weekend was a happy accident. Saturday night we were driving past the La Habra 300 Bowl on our way to dinner at El Cholo (review coming soon) and noticed the marquee advertising live music and Hangar 24 craft beer on tap at the 13th Frame Lounge... how could we resist? We couldn't.
This bar, attached to the bowling alley, feels like stepping into an old winter lodge, with its dark wood walls and comfy leather chairs. Dark inside, like any good dive bar should be, it felt like it was midnight when we walked in at about 8:30pm. The band was tuning up and consisted of 3 older guys rockin' some great CCR covers. There was a good crowd and by the time the band started it was pretty packed with a variety of what I assume were regulars- apparently this is the hot spot in La Habra on a Saturday night. They were having a special promotion that night, a Hangar 24 tap takeover, with 6 or 7 different types of Hangar 24. We tried a few different brews and especially enjoyed the Double IPA, the Chocolate Porter, and the Orange Wheat. However, this was a one night only event, so we aren't sure what their regular selection consists of. Within the first few minutes in this bar we had already decided that we would be coming back. Check out this article from OC Weekly naming the 13th Frame Lounge the best dive bar attached to a bowling alley in 2010.
Of course we had to do some bowling since we were there, and found out they have a great deal on Cosmic Bowling- $15/person gets you shoes and as many games as you can bowl from 9:30-midnight. Also during cosmic bowling you can win free game coupons by bowling strikes at the right moment- we won 5 free games!
We had an awesome night at the 13th Frame Lounge and the 300 Bowl, and we will definitely be going back!
p.s. we will post an update with the regular bar selection at the 13th Frame next time we visit.
